Underground fault detection and location in Power lines using GSM Technology This project aims to design and implement an underground fault detection and location in power lines using GSM technology. Electrical energy worth billions of rupees are being wasted because faults in underground power lines are not detected timely and a lot of resources are being utilized in order to detect and locate fault in various power lines. This project finds a solution for this problem by implanting a set of units on various points on power distribution line and measuring the instantaneous values continuously. Underground fault detection and location in power lines using GSM technology We will implement certain nodes each containing CT (current transformer) and PT (potential transformer) which will measure the current and voltage and give the value to a main node, main node will then compare the values of current and voltage between nodes and detect the faults quickly saving time and money After determining type of fault microcontroller sends type of fault and its location to authorities in the form of SMS using GSM and GPRS module.
