Smart Glasses for Accessibility (SmartSee)

The objective of this project is to create affordable smart glasses for visually impaired individuals that assist them in carrying out daily activities. The current technology available in the market is expensive and not accessible to the common man. In order to address this issue and reach out to the 1.12 million people who are blind as of 2017 (Pakistan), we aim to leverage openCV techniques to develop cost-effective smart glasses. These glasses will be powered by Raspberry Pi, a processor, combined with artificial intelligence functionalities. Additionally, an ultrasonic sensor will be integrated into the system to detect and prevent any potential collisions with obstacles.

Key features of these smart glasses include:
• Object detection
• Face detection/recognition
• Natural scene text detection/OCR
• Ultrasonic sensor
