Interests / quote
This project aims to design and implement an automated hydroponics system, to monitor, manage and increases yield of crops. With population increasing rapidly there’s a surge of demand for food to sustain the ever rising numbers. Traditional farming and agriculture methods are no longer enough to meet these ever rising numbers. Our country’s natural resources are declining rapidly and the availability of arable land is diminishing as well. Pakistan faces an unescapable water crisis, with it being a primarily agrarian country most of the country’s economy depends on water to grow crops. Farming and irrigation requires the highest water consumption and contribute highly to the water stress. Through this project we aim to bring water consumption in growing plants to a fraction of the water consumed in traditional farming, as water is reused instead of being absorbed into the ground. Additionally our project allows for plants to be grown without soil or taking up acres of land. The hydroponics system can be built vertically, instead of the typical horizontal method which will allow for increases in the amount of crop per acres.
