Interests / quote
IBA is regarded as one of the best business schools in the country, and to be a part of this institute since 2007 is truly an honor. I consider receiving a BBA degree in 2011 and an MBA degree in 2015 from this institute as the biggest successes of my life. I would like to refer to the book ‘Outliers: The Story of Success’ in which the writer argues that a person’s environment has a big part to play in their success and this is what IBA does the best, providing an environment that has the ability to turn ordinary individuals into extra-ordinary ones. IBA has taught me how to communicate, interact and work with people around me in a productive manner and to challenge and push myself beyond what I have already learned and know. The two year work experience requirement to be eligible for an MBA degree from IBA makes sense because it allows students to relate concepts and theories to real life business practices more easily. The case based method of teaching, especially at the MBA level, allows students to examine, in detail, how certain business practices in organizations can lead to success and how others can lead to failure and what these organizations did to turn around these failures into success. It also opens up our minds to innovative and at times revolutionary business ideas of some of the organizations internationally that are yet to be applied by businesses in our country. I got an opportunity to work for an organization like ICI where I learnt some key lessons that will stay with me forever. Firstly, in organizations, you do not and cannot work in isolation. You have to work as part of a team and collaborate with people from Finance, Sales, Administration, Supply Chain, HR, Warehouse etc. to get your work done while you may be working in the Marketing Department. Secondly, in our business environment, dealing with different stakeholders in an ethical manner can at times be very difficult. However, you need to stick to your principles and be just and fair in your work practices no matter what the cost as this may harm you in the short term, but will build the reputation of your organization and yourself in the long term. I hope to carry all these lessons and teachings from my work experience and my courses in MBA along with me to my next organization and benefit them as a result. In return, I am looking for an opportunity which provides me a learning environment which will lead to my professional growth.
