Completing my BBA from IBA in 2011, I had an aim torejoin it and get myselfenrolled foran MBA Program. My reason to return back to IBA was based on the academic value addition I was seeking. IBA has persistently focused on business education that is not only rigorous but also relevant and looking into the future. Students at IBA acquire knowledge and skills throughconstructive and distinctive processes that encourage them to develop an understanding of business concepts and issues, think independently and to make rational choices. They are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning, to become active participants and leaders, and to apply their knowledge in real-world context. The MBA Program at IBA has not only helped me hone the soft skills required to be an effective manager, but has also enabled me to specialize further in the field of Finance and acquire knowledge on Islamic capital markets, derivatives, and portfolio management, areas that were unexplored before the start of my MBA. I also got a valuable opportunity to interact with managers from diverse corporate backgrounds through the personal effectiveness sessions arranged by IBA. Furthermore, I got to handle real-life projects and co-authored number of case studies, which helped me to learn how to analyze various organizational processes and arrive at a strategic-level decision making. It also helped me understand how to cope up with the issues that may arise in an organization. The MBA Research Project, which required in-depth research and consultancy for a client, A.A.Joyland Pvt. Limited, offered me a chance to apply my skills in a professional environment and work on revamping the company’s deteriorating image. I also attended the Turkey Study tour, arranged by the IBA Marketing club, which allowed me to interact with and learn from the senior-level executives working in world-renowned organizations. Before joining MBA program, I was able to achieve experience in the areas of trade finance, budgeting, and financial accounting. My major professional achievements included leading projects like revision of expenditure powers, as well as the revision of capitalizing limits for the fixed assets of SBP-BSC, which were successfully approved by the higher authorities. This made me realize that I had a passion to lead a project and see it right through till the end. Appreciation by my supervisor and other seniors for my goal-oriented attitude increasedmy confidence and helped develop my leadership skills. With a balanced skill set in the area of finance, as well as pertinent knowledge about other areas of management like retailing and consumer behavior, I aspire to work for an organization that values creativity, responsibility, and meticulousness, so that I can add value to it, and learn and grow as the organization grows.
