Nausheen Shahid Finance The increasingly tough competitive world of 21st century requires everyone to be prepared for rapid changes and be able to adapt to those changes. Students bear the brunt of this ever demanding world. The job market now requires students not only excelling academically but those who are actively involved in extracurricular activities, take interest in giving something back to the community and are well equipped with modern technology. Currently in my final year of MBA majoring in finance at institute of Business administration, I look for suitable opportunities to put in my learning and transferable skills from previous work experience into practical use. What I seek to attain in life is security, peace of mind, and a sense of complacency with whatever I have. My middleclass background has helped me accept the small imperfections in life and how important it is to realize what your efforts are worth. My passion for books and knowledge has improved my I.Q. and developed my critical thinking and writing skills leading to a MENSA membership amongst other achievements. I believe this will give me an edge in dealing with the current fast paced tech savvy work environment. At IBA, I acquired knowledge and skills through constructive and distinctive processes that encouraged me to develop understanding of business concepts and issues, think independently and make rational choices. I was encouraged to take responsibility for my own learning, to become active participant and leader, and to apply my knowledge in real-world context with the help of summer internship program. Professionally, I have worked at ACE Insurance as a property and casualty executive. My learning from this experience, I have completed my Certificate in Insurance from the CII, UK. My experience at ACE included numerous trainings in Dubai, UAE and Manama, Bahrain along with online trainings with London and USA offices. My responsibilities included underwriting of casualty, marine and construction as well as client relations. I was responsible for the entire process beginning from client procurement, financial and technical feasibility, clause negotiations, policy creation and risk binding, as well as claim handling and settlement. My other projects included working in coordination with the finance team on projections, budgets, financial statements and outstanding analysis with other ACE entities. I was also heading the team responsible for changing over of processing software. My MBA experience at IBA has been rich, gratifying and full of lessons. The first semester at this prestigious institute was tough as I was managing work life with evening MBA and family life. However, much hard work resulted in me gaining a GPA of 3.67, after which I switched to morning MBA and currently have a CGPA of 3.45.
