DETERMINANTS OF DIVIDEND POLICY: A CASE OF BANKING SECTOR IN THE SUBCONTINENT: This research aims at investigating the factors determining the dividend policy of banking
sector in the SubContinent; there are three countries in the SubContinent namely Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. Three banks from each country are included in this study. This
study includes zve independent variables, namely, Leverage, Proztability, Size, Risk and Last year’s dividend, and one independent variable, namely, dividend payout ratio. This study uses six years panel data of nine listed commercial banks from year 2011-2016. The study uses least square model (LSM) and the statistical software which the study uses is Eviews.
Empirical results show that size, last year’s dividend, risk have positive awect on dividend payout policies while proztability and leverage have negative awect on dividend payout
policies. The result of this study shows that Proztability, Last year’s dividend, Leverage and size have negative impact on dividend payout policies of the banks, while Risk has
positive awect on dividend payout policies. Result also shows that our overall statistical model is signizcant.
