Potential threats and opportunities: Final Year Thesis examining Pakistan's development prospects from expanded trade with China under the CPEC initiative. Under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor, China is investing in Pakistan's trade and transportation infrastructure. Improved trade and cheaper export prices will benefit both nations because of the developed infrastructure. By generating multiple policy scenarios in 2025, we employ a global economics model (GTAP) to examine the implications of trade and transportation infrastructure. Our findings demonstrate that both Pakistan and China would benefit from increased GDP and wellbeing. The effects are particularly significant on Pakistan. Pakistan's net agricultural commodity exports to China will grow faster than non-agricultural commodity exports in terms of mutual trade. Non- agricultural exports from China, on the other hand, would significantly improve to Pakistan. Pakistan's manufacturing structure will undergo various changes because of altering trade ties. Due to a minor rise in rural earnings, Pakistan's income might be levelled. The predicted advantages can only be achieved if the CPEC projects are completed quickly and smoothly.
