A Comparative Analysis of Financial Ratios of 2 Companies in the Cement Sector for the last 5 years (2016-2020): As part of this project, analysis of financial ratios of the two cement companies for the last 5 years (2016-2020), namely Gharibwal Cement Limited (GWLC) and Thatta Cement Company Limited (THCCL) was carried out in order to understand the highs and lows of the performance of 2 companies as compared to each other, and also compared with the industry averages to see whether these 2 companies are performing better or worse than the industry.
Risk and Return Analysis of 2 Companies in the Cement Sector: As part of this project, the risk/volatility of prices was calculated for the same two companies (GWLC and THCCL) using the beta factor. Reasons for high or low beta factor were also explained in this project. Alongside risk, the returns for the two stocks were also calculated using CAPM. On the basis of this analysis, recommendations were provided to improve the performance of these 2 companies.
Financial Model of an ice-cream start-up: As part of this project, I prepared a three-statement financial model for a fictional ice-cream start-up set up in IBA on Microsoft Excel and forecasted its returns over the next 5 years. To prepare the model, I took a set of assumptions such as real GDP growth, food inflation, number of students enrolled each year, % of people who attend classes physically, etc, and used those as a benchmark to forecast the sales and other line items over the next 5 years as accurately as possible.
Financial Model of a Listed Entity: 1) Forecasted 5 years' financial statements of Mehran Sugar Mills Limited. 2) Included a different set of assumptions e.g. wage inflation, real GDP growth, unemployment rate, etc, and performed a regression analysis to accurately forecast sales for the next 5 years. 3) Thoroughly read the directors' report, annual report, notifications on the PSX website about the company, and newspapers such as Business Recorder, etc to familiarize myself with the current affairs of the company and incorporated that information appropriately in my financial model. 4) Prepared a depreciation schedule and finance schedule 5) Prepared a discounted cash flow model for valuation of the firm to see whether shareholders should buy, sell, or hold the shares.
