ARMED CONFLICT, BAN ON FEMALE EDUCATION AND ITS IMPACT ON CHILDREN'S EDUCATION: A GENDER COMPARISON: Using district
level data on gross enrollment rates from 2005-2011, my research analyzed the impact of terrorism and the policy ban on female
education during peak conflict years. To identify causal effects, the occurrence of violence in each district was instrumented by
measuring the distance between each district and the militant headquarters.
